Camping on the Ostrich Farm & Life Farm
A parking spot on a life farm on the edge of Freystadt, right next to the animal enclosures. In the morning you hear the animals before much else happens. You can visit them during the day; on the first Sunday of the month someone gives a tour of the farm. Between twelve and four is quiet time, when it stays peaceful. The access road is flat, even large vehicles can get through. Grilling is allowed, and electricity runs through a meter. The free natural swimming pool in town is a short bike ride away, and you can continue cycling into the Altmühltal.1

Nuremberg
About 34 km away, with its castle and old town behind the city walls; the standard choice when the weather rules out the farm.
