Taufstein and Bismarckturm
The highest point of the Vogelsberg, topped by the Bismarck tower. On a clear day the view runs far across the basalt domes — one for the first sunny day.
Bilstein
A basalt crag in the Vogelsberg, reached by steps. From the top you see the wooded slopes, and the wind whistles between the rocks. Short walk, big effect.
Fulda
The baroque town with cathedral and palace, a short quarter hour away. The old town is walkable, the rainy-day classic with lanes and museums.
Wasserkuppe
The highest mountain of the Rhön, known for gliding. In good wind the gliders circle over the ridges, up top wide meadows and long views.
