Camping in the most beautiful valley of the Eifel
A small nature campsite near Hellenthal, in a remote valley of the North Eifel at 500 meters elevation. A stream runs beside the camping meadow, and during the week you hear little else. On weekends, families arrive and things become more lively. Hiking trails and mountain bike routes lead directly past the site, and archery and llama trekking are available in the surrounding area. The Urftsee near Einruhr is within reach, and Aachen is 41 kilometers away. In the evenings, only the sound of the stream.1

Urft Reservoir near Einruhr
A reservoir in the Eifel National Park, framed by wooded slopes. The shore path can be walked in stages, and boats cross the water in summer.
Wolfsschlucht Gorge
A narrow rocky gorge with a slim path running through it. Cool on hot days and short enough for tired legs to manage.
Dreimühlen Waterfall
A moss-covered limestone waterfall in the Vulkaneifel, further south. Worth saving for a day with the car.
Aachen
The old imperial city with its cathedral and thermal springs, about 41 kilometres away. The city day for when the rain in the valley will not stop.
