Camping in the Fichtelgebirge - dreamlike secluded location
On the edge of Kornbach, a village near Gefrees in the Fichtelgebirge, lies a meadow with space for a single motorhome. The forest begins right behind it, and the marked hiking trails practically start at the parking spot. There are no sanitary facilities, but there is a campfire site available by arrangement, as long as it's not too dry. In the morning it smells of pine needles, otherwise it remains quiet. The Weißenstädter See and the Ochsenkopf are not far away. Shaggy Galloway cattle graze on the neighboring meadow.1

Sights in the area1
Ochsenkopf
One of the highest peaks in the Fichtelgebirge, with a cable car up and a summer toboggan run down. The trip where the kids stop grumbling too.
Weißenstädter See
Bathing lake with a thermal spa and pedal boats along the shore. The spa is the rainy-day standby when the forest drips.
Waldstein
Castle ruin on the wooded ridge with a viewing platform over the hills. A short climb, a wide view.
Felsenlabyrinth Luisenburg
Huge granite boulders with a path squeezing through, sometimes narrow, sometimes up steps. Keeps kids and grown-ups busy for a good hour.
