Camping on Witticher Talstraße in the Black Forest
A narrow valley at the end of which stands the monastery Wittichen; right at the entrance lies the parking area at Schwarzwaldweiler Vortal. On one side, the forest edge encloses the site, on the other, the path leads up to the monastery. The ground is partly gravel, partly grass. There is nothing more here. Whoever comes must provide for themselves — restaurants and shops are not found until nearly four kilometers away in Schenkenzell. In the evenings, all that remains from the day is the forest, which extends right to the meadow, and the silence of the valley. Triberg Waterfalls
The Gutach tumbles down several rock steps here, one of the best-known falls in the Black Forest. The loop through the gorge is the reliable half-day outing.
Feldberg
The highest mountain in the Black Forest; on a clear day the view reaches the Alps. A ski area in winter, wide hiking ground in summer.
Freiburg im Breisgau
The largest city on the southern edge of the Black Forest, about 57 km away: the minster, water channels in the lanes, the gondola up the Schauinsland. The rainy-day standby when the valley turns too quiet.
Sankenbach Waterfalls
The Sankenbach falls near Baiersbronn drop over mossy rock; the path there passes a small cirque lake. A half-day trip for walkers.
