Neumühle/Elster

Camping at Mühlgraben

A small site in Neumühle/Elster, right on the mill channel on the mill island. Three pitches for motorhomes up to nine meters, plus meadow for tents. You can hear the water at the channel, otherwise very quiet. Facilities are basic: a dry toilet, no shower. Water and electricity are available centrally at the information board. Registration is with Annemarie; arrivals and departures are possible around the clock. The Vogtland is not far away: the Bleiloch reservoir dams the Saale, and Höllental cuts deep into the rock. It's about 48 kilometers to Jena.1

A narrow rock gorge where the Selbitz squeezes through near the Bavarian border; the trail through the ravine is the classic pick for a cool hiking day.

A well-preserved hilltop castle above a bend of the Saale, now a museum; the climb pays off with a wide view over the valley.
