Camping at the Czorneboh in Upper Lusatia

A farm near Meschwitz, less than two kilometres from the nearest shop, in the rolling hills south-east of Hochkirch. If you fancy it, you can start your ascent of the Czorneboh directly from the farm, on foot or by mountain bike. In the morning, mist hangs over the fields until the sun clears the ridge. Bautzen with its old town is about ten minutes away, Dresden roughly 54 kilometres. If you arrive without a car, get off the train at Kubschütz or Pommritz. Otherwise: meadow, farm, wide open space.1

Sights in the area1

Czorneboh

A wooded ridge in Upper Lusatia with a lookout tower and mountain lodge; on clear days the view stretches far south. The home loop starts right at the farm.

Bautzen

Old town above the Spree, towers and narrow lanes packed close together, Sorbian names on the signs. The short trip for half a day.

Dresden

The Saxon state capital, about 54 km away. The Fürstenzug in Meissen porcelain and the Blue Wonder over the Elbe, the classic for a rainy day.

Hochwald-Turmbaude

A lodge with a view on the Hochwald in the Zittau Mountains, up at the Czech border. A hiking goal for a full day.
