Weißenstadt

Campground in Weißenstadt

A meadow in the middle of the forest near Weißenstadt, hidden enough that you need to contact the host beforehand. A stream runs through it, and the spring nearby can dry up in the height of summer. Every hammock finds its place between the trees, and tarps are no problem at all. There's a fire pit, but fire is only allowed by arrangement. There's no toilet. The wildlife camera occasionally captures a wolf, though the host has never seen one himself. The Luisenburg rock labyrinth lies in the same Fichtelgebirge. At night: wind in the spruces.1

Sights in the area1

Luisenburg Rock Labyrinth

A jumble of granite blocks near Wunsiedel with a marked path squeezing through it, at times on all fours. Shady even in high summer; sturdy shoes help.

Weißmainfelsen

The granite outcrop on the Ochsenkopf where the White Main river rises. An iron stairway leads up, with half the Fichtelgebirge in view. The shortest summit walk around.

Weißer Main Nature Trail

Follows the stream down from its source, with info boards along the way. Flat enough for an afternoon with children when legs get restless in the forest.
