Camping at the vacation farm in the hinterland of Lake Constance

A holiday farm in Deggenhausertal, on the south slope of Höchsten, not twenty kilometers from Lake Constance. The motorhome stands in the shade of old pear trees at the edge of the meadow. Horses and ponies graze next door. In the mornings, twenty hens lay breakfast eggs, on weekdays the baker brings rolls to the farm. Cat Lissy stops by briefly. In the evenings, the campfire burns, it's louder in the play barn. It's not far to the Pfahlbaumuseum in Unteruhldingen on the lake.1

Sights in the area1

Pfahlbaumuseum Unteruhldingen

Reconstructed stilt houses stand on posts above Lake Constance. An open-air museum that fills a whole afternoon, kids included.

Stein am Rhein

A small town where the Bodensee flows out into the Rhine, painted facades around the market square. One stroll is enough to see it all.

Bregenzer Ach

The river empties into Lake Constance near Bregenz. The path along the water is flat and works well by bike.

Ulm

About 76 km away, home to the tallest church tower in the world at the Münster. The trip for a day with a longer drive.
