Beautiful meadow with old apple trees
A four-hectare meadow on the outskirts of Weißendiez, lined with old apple trees. The pitch is in the shade, with a view of the hosts' own forest. The ground is flat. Good for tents too. The village lies between forest and fields, during the day you hear little more than the wind in the treetops. Three kilometers further on is a bathing and fishing pond, and a fire bowl can be provided upon request. Bad Salzungen with its brine spa and Wartburg castle near Eisenach are not far away.1

Wartburg near Eisenach
The Wartburg castle above Eisenach is a Unesco World Heritage site; here Luther translated the New Testament. A trip that works even in the rain.
Bad Salzungen brine spa
Bad Salzungen lives off salt: at the graduation tower brine drifts into salty air, and the brine spa sits just inside. The go-to for cool days.
Rhön
To the south the Rhön opens into rolling heights; around the Kreuzberg, trails lead to the Gemündener and Thüringer huts. A full day of hiking.
