A campsite near Haßfurt in Franconia. Nice in itself, the toilet spotlessly clean — nothing to complain about there. Electricity is available, but only standard power, no three-phase. The WC is in the host's residential house, and the front door is locked in the evening: anyone needing it at night has to ring the bell. If you arrive without your own bathroom in the camper, you'd better think twice about it beforehand. All around is the Steigerwald, and it's a good fifty kilometers to Würzburg with its Residenz.1

The Franconian residence city on the Main, a good fifty kilometres away: baroque Residenz, Marienberg fortress and the vineyards on the Stein. The trip for a day of culture.
Steigerwald
A wooded ridge south of the Main, beech forests and quiet hiking trails. The treetop walkway near Ebrach leads across the canopy. Good for a day on foot.
The Main
The river runs through Haßfurt, and the Main cycle path follows it almost level from town to town. The easy ride for days without a big plan.
