A pitch in Dorsten, in the northern Ruhr area, for tents and motorhomes. The host doesn't reveal much, and you won't always find him there; a call will sort out what's needed. There's a permanent camper on the site. Showers and toilets are available. They're not always open. It's about twelve kilometres to Bottrop, and a short drive to Halde Haniel and the Tetraeder. A reservoir near Haltern north of Dorsten, with a sandy beach and a path around the water. The area's go-to swimming spot on hot days.
Halde Haniel
A greened mining heap above Bottrop, topped with totem poles and an open-air arena. From the summit the view runs far across the Ruhr region — the place for sunset.
Tetraeder
A walkable steel pyramid on a slag heap in Bottrop, lit at night. The short climb up the swaying stairs pays off for the view.
