AlpacaCamping 63
A meadow near Riedenberg in the Rhön, with a stream running behind the site. If you're lucky, you'll have the place to yourself: plenty of grass, plenty of peace and quiet, plenty of space for dogs to roam across the field in the evenings. The arrangement with Lukas is informal, nothing more is needed. The water rushes softly when there's nothing else going on. From here, trails lead to the Kaskadenschlucht and the Gemündener Hütte, classic Rhön tours. It's a good sixty kilometers to Würzburg. In the evening: just the stream.1
What AlpacaCamping writes
„We were lucky to have the place all to ourselves. With the stream right behind it and the large meadows ideal for travelers with dogs! Our 3 Mali dogs felt amazing despite the heat (around 37 degrees). Super uncomplicated communication with Lukas!“

Sights in the area1
Kaskadenschlucht gorge
A narrow gorge in the Rhön forest where the water drops over mossy steps. The trail is short and shady, which counts on hot days.
Gemündener Hütte
A hikers' hut at the foot of the high Rhön, the starting point for walks up the Kreuzberg. The reliable stop after a long loop over the heights.
Würzburg
The baroque city on the Main with its Residenz palace and the vineyards above the river, a good 61 km away. The day trip when you want culture over woods.
