Scheuring

AlpacaCamping 628

A spot near Scheuring where you stand alone — no neighbours in sight, that's what guests loved most about it. Michael welcomes arrivals, then silence takes over. Tent or caravan find their own patch here. It's about 22 kilometres to Augsburg, to the Hochablass on the Lech and the old town. In the other direction lies the Ammersee with the bathing resorts Herrsching and Dießen. If you come here, you should like being on your own. Evenings: just your own camping stove.1

Sights in the area1

Ammersee

Bavaria's third-largest lake, lined with lakeside towns like Herrsching and Dießen. Steamers cross the water; the place to head when the quiet at the site gets to be too much.

Andechs Monastery

The pilgrimage church on the Holy Mountain above the Ammersee, known for its monastery brew. The climb is worth it in any weather — the outing for grey days.

Augsburg

The Fugger city, about 22 kilometres away. The Hochablass dams the Lech at the edge of town, behind it the old quarter with town hall and water towers; the city day when rain sets in.
