Weissach im Tal

AlpacaCamping 406

Orchards near Weissach im Tal, organically managed, with a row of trees marking the parking edge. You can park right next to the trees – the host keeps it simple. Between the old fruit trees, nature buzzes in summer; in autumn, fallen fruit lies in the grass. One downside: When the ground is wet, you'll need four-wheel drive – the meadow quickly becomes soft. Stuttgart is about 28 kilometers away, home to the Grabkapelle on the Württemberg with views over the Neckar valley. In the evenings, only crickets and birdsong.1

Sights in the area1

Grabkapelle on Württemberg Hill

The Württemberg king had this chapel built on a vineyard hill above the Neckar; the view reaches far into the Rems valley. A fine Sunday walk on a clear day.

Bärenschlössle

A small white lodge in the red-deer park west of Stuttgart, by the Bärensee. Broad forest paths lead to it, the classic afternoon outing with kids.

Solitude Palace

A baroque hunting palace on the ridge above Stuttgart, at the end of a dead-straight avenue. Tours lead through the state rooms, the area's rainy-day trip.
