Siebeldingen

AlpacaCamping 275

A pitch among the vineyards of Siebeldingen, on the eastern edge of the Pfälzerwald. The hosts provide fresh water, waste disposal, and electricity, and your glass will be filled with wine from the Südliche Weinstraße. In the morning, the scent of warm sandstone and damp leaves hangs over the vine rows until the first tractors disappear between the vines. The pitch is simply equipped. In return, the forest begins right behind the village. Karlsruhe is around 34 kilometers away. Evenings: the chirping of crickets.1

Sights in the area1

Palatinate Forest

Germany's largest contiguous woodland starts right behind the wine villages. Marked trails lead to sandstone crags and forest inns, made for long days on foot.

Rietburg

Castle ruin above the wine road near Rhodt, reached by an old chairlift. From the top the view runs across the vineyard slopes into the Rhine plain.

Wachtenburg

Castle ruin above Wachenheim, further north. The steep climb pays off with a wide view over the Rhine plain and fills half an afternoon.

Karlsruhe

The fan-shaped city with palace and museums lies about 34 kilometres away. The ZKM and the Kunsthalle make it a target for grey days.
