AlpacaCamping 2533
Always wanted to camp in the middle of a village, but for some reason never had the opportunity? There is still hope! Provided you can find a place that has what it takes. The Aukrug Nature Park, with its outdoor swimming pool and various other attractive things nearby, will make that fantasy come true almost as soon as you arrive (although there's a lot more than just water sources, too). At about 300 meters from your tent/caravan site you will discover a public toilet, which should suffice until the next season - unless the town hall needs to be repaired again...I am very much looking forward to see YOU1

Hochdonn Railway Bridge
The railway line crosses the Kiel Canal high above the water. Freighters push through below while trains rumble across the top. A quick stop for anyone who likes engineering.
Eider Barrage (Eidersperrwerk)
Germany's largest coastal protection structure sits at the mouth of the Eider. At low tide, seals bask on the sandbanks outside. The go-to day trip to the North Sea coast.
Kiel Canal Ferry, Hohenhörn
Small ferries cross the Kiel Canal free of charge, including at Hohenhörn. From the deck you watch the big ships glide past up close.
Kiel
The state capital on the fjord lies about 41 kilometres away. From the Kiellinie promenade you can watch the ferries set off for Scandinavia. A whole city for a rainy day.
