In the Hunsrück the Baybach drops over several steps into a narrow gorge; the tight path there is the outing for a warm hiking day.
Rhine Cycle Path
Koblenz lies about 39 kilometres to the north, and from there the Rhine cycle path runs almost flat along the river — the day trip for when the Hunsrück gets too hilly.
Thurant Castle
The twin-towered castle above the Mosel near Alken can be climbed on foot, and from the top the view stretches over the vineyards. An afternoon is enough.
