AlpacaCamping 1552

A small farm on the edge of the village near Hollfeld, in the heart of Franconian Switzerland. The farm is home to sheep and chickens, quails and ducks, as well as cats and dogs to look at. You can rent the caravan with four to six pitches, and a tent fits behind it. In the morning, the chickens cluck, and sometimes fresh sourdough bread comes out of the oven. Behind it, the Wiesent river, still small. It's 500 meters to Hollfeld on the cycle path, to the open-air swimming pool and the baker. Pottenstein with its stalactite caves is just under half an hour away.1

Sights in the area1

Teufelshöhle Pottenstein

A large stalactite cave near Pottenstein, cool and walkable year-round — the classic option when rain scraps the hiking plans.

Gößweinstein

A pilgrimage town above the Wiesent valley with a basilica and castle; from the height the view runs far over the Franconian Jura cliffs.

Wiesenttal

The valley of the Wiesent river winds through Franconian Switzerland, a favourite stretch for hiking and canoeing between the limestone walls.

Bamberg

The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage site with a cathedral and old court residence; a good trip for a day without camping weather.
