Arrach

AlpacaCamping 1373

A simple campground above Arrach in the Bavarian Forest. Not much is promised: a toilet, a hot shower, friendly people, and a dog to greet you. In return, the view stretches far across the hills. In the morning, the mist hangs down in the valley while the sun is already shining up top. Großer Arber, at 1,456 meters the highest mountain in the area, is within reach. The Großer Arbersee is just a few hairpin bends uphill away.1

What AlpacaCamping writes

Sights in the area1

Großer Arber

At 1456 metres the highest peak in the Bavarian Forest; on clear days the view stretches far to the south. A chairlift takes the steepest part.

Großer Arbersee

An ice-age mountain lake below the Arber, with floating peat islands and a loop trail along the shore. A walk for half a day.

Osser

The distinctive twin peak on the Czech border, easily seen from the Lamer Winkel; there's a hut at the top for a snack along the way.
