Elsendorf

AlpacaCamping 1097

A meadow in Elsendorf, in the heart of the Hallertau hop region. Where exactly you stand is your choice; the host checks in daily to see if anything is needed. Shower and toilet were clean with the last guests. The site reveals nothing more, and so nothing more is written here either. In late summer, the resinous scent of hop cones hangs over the fields. It's 33 kilometers to Ingolstadt. In the evening: hop trellises backlit.1

What AlpacaCamping writes

„We spent a wonderful weekend on the meadow. We were welcomed very warmly and were able to park wherever we wanted. The host inquired daily if everything was to our liking. The shower and toilet were always clean. Thank you so much for that.“

Sights in the area1

Hallertau

The world's largest continuous hop-growing area begins right outside Elsendorf. In August the bines stand metres high on their wires, with cycle paths running between them.

Ingolstadt

The nearest larger town, some 33 kilometres away. An old quarter on the Danube, museums in the New Castle and the Klenzepark. The standby for a rainy afternoon.

Befreiungshalle Kelheim

Ludwig I's massive rotunda stands above the Danube Gorge. The view from the top reaches into the Altmühl valley; below, boats set off towards Weltenburg Abbey.
