AlpacaCamping 1092

A pitch near Thierstein, surrounded by meadows and the forests of the Fichtelgebirge. The hosts take time for their guests, dogs are welcome. Even in hot weather it's pleasant here. Otherwise little entertainment. To the Luisenburg rock labyrinth and the Weißmainfelsen you venture deeper into the mountains, where granite blocks lie stacked on top of each other as if thrown there. In the afternoon the air hangs warm over the meadows, in the evening it smells of spruce.1

What AlpacaCamping writes

„Super lovely spot surrounded by meadows and forests. The hosts were incredibly nice and my dog absolutely loved it here. You could really handle the heat well here too :-).“

Sights in the area1

Luisenburg Rock Labyrinth

A jumble of granite blocks with a marked path climbing and squeezing through it. Shady even on hot days; sturdy shoes are part of the deal.

Weißmainfelsen

A viewpoint rock in the Fichtelgebirge looking out over the wooded ridges. The short climb pays off late in the afternoon, when the light goes flat.

Weißer Main Nature Trail

An interpretive trail along the young Weißer Main, still a headwater stream up here. Short enough for an afternoon with nothing else planned.

Chemnitz

The nearest larger city, some 96 km away, with Rabenstein Castle and the Chemnitz valley cycle path. A full day out rather than a quick detour.
