AlpacaCamping 2262
A parking spot in Stötten am Auerberg, up in the eastern Allgäu, with expansive views over the foothills of the Alps. The Auerberg with its Church of St. Georg sits just above the village, at a good thousand metres elevation. In the mornings, mist hangs over the meadows until the Allgäu Alps break through on the horizon. Not much else is set in stone about the site. The panorama is what counts. Plus a friendly host. Down in the valley lies the Forggensee near Füssen.1

Auerberg
The local hill above the village, just over 1050 metres, with the baroque church of St. Georg on top. In clear weather the view reaches the Alps. The short evening loop.
Forggensee
A reservoir lake near Füssen, one of Bavaria's larger lakes. A cycle path runs around it, boats sail in summer. Often drained low after winter.
Breitachklamm
A deep rock gorge in the western Allgäu near Oberstdorf; the Zwingsteg bridge leads through the roar. Doable in rain too, the walkways are secured.
Augsburg
The Fugger city, about 71 km north. Renaissance town hall and water towers, the Lech dams up at the Hochablass. The town day for bad weather.
