AlpacaCamping 457

A site on the outskirts of Schlehdorf, right by Lake Kochelsee. Tents, motorhomes, or caravans are pitched here among the alpacas, which chew at the fence in the morning and observe you until you move on. The host doesn't reveal much; what's certain is that the animals are part of the site and the people stay friendly. The rest is landscape: the calm waters of Kochelsee, with the first Alpine peaks visible beyond. Munich is a good 58 kilometers to the north. If you're coming, you should enjoy peace and quiet.1

Sights in the area1

Kochelsee

The lake starts almost at the edge of Schlehdorf. A shallow shore for swimming, the Herzogstand behind it; a rowing boat takes you onto open water.

Walchensee

A turquoise mountain lake one valley over, known to sailors and divers. From the Herzogstand you see both lakes at once.

Eibsee-Brücke

The emerald Eibsee sits below the Zugspitze. The shoreline loop is the outing for a clear day with mountain views.

Olympiapark Munich

Munich's 1972 grounds with the tent roof and viewing hill, a good 58 km north. The city day for when rain hits the lake.
