Hohenhameln

AlpacaCamping 324

A parking spot near Hohenhameln, in the middle of the flat Hildesheimer Börde. The description doesn't reveal much: one night, a friendly host, nothing more is guaranteed — and that's why nothing more is written here either. Fields stretch to the horizon all around, in the evening the wind sweeps across the fields, in the morning larks sing above them. Hannover is about 25 kilometers away, flat countryside in between. Anyone coming should be in the mood for little in the way of activities.1

What AlpacaCamping writes

Sights in the area1

New Town Hall and Maschpark

The massive town hall by the Maschpark in Hanover, about 25 kilometres away; an angled lift runs up into the dome, and from the top the city stretches to the Maschsee. The rainy-day standby.

Annaturm in the Deister

A lookout tower on the ridge of the Deister, the wooded range southwest of Hanover. Half a day on foot through beech woods, and at the top the view over the Calenberg lowlands.

Hildesheim

An old episcopal town south of Hohenhameln. The cathedral and St Michael's are World Heritage, and the thousand-year rose bush grows against the apse. A city trip without the motorway.
