Griesstätt

AlpacaCamping 674

A campground near Griesstätt in Upper Bavaria, a good fifty kilometers east of Munich. Lorenz is at reception, friendly and unpretentious. If you like, you can stock up at the farm shop with eggs and vegetables — the onions lie loose in the crate. The site is well suited as a starting point for tours, whether into the Chiemgau or back to the big city. The host doesn't reveal much more than that. In the evenings it becomes quiet.1

What AlpacaCamping writes

„We were welcomed very warmly by Lorenz. The site is lovely and a great starting point for excursions. There's a farm shop with vegetables and eggs – highly recommended! Everything looked great and the eggs and onions we bought were excellent!“

Sights in the area1

Lake Chiemsee

Bavaria's big lake in the Chiemgau; at Seebruck you can wade in, and boats set off for the Herren and Frauen islands. The swimming day when it turns hot.

Munich

The state capital sits about 50 km to the west; the Olympiapark is good for whiling away a rainy day, and from the tower you see the Alps in Föhn weather.

Isar

The river runs from the mountains down to Munich; the Isartrail lets you cycle its banks, with gravel bars to rest on. A full day's outing.
