A drive along the wine route leads to Rietburg via Edenkoben or to Wachtenburg near Wachenheim, with Karlsruhe around 30 km to the east.1

Ruin above Wachenheim, right among the vines. The climb takes a good half hour; from the top you look over the wine slopes of the Mittelhaardt.
Basaltsee
A flooded quarry near Forst, now a quiet lake in the Palatinate Forest. The spot for a short hike when the vineyards get too hot.
Karlsruhe
The fan-shaped city lies about 30 km away, its streets radiating out from the palace. The town day for when the wine route falls silent.
