Motorhome parking in Mittweida

A pitch by the river near Mittweida, just a few metres from the water. If you have a SUP with you, you can paddle a kilometre or two upstream and downstream, then you'll hit a weir and large rocks. The site is basic: there's electricity, but no proper toilet, just a makeshift one under the open sky. At night the road is quiet. During the day the occasional loud vehicle passes by. Your host is Conrad, who's happy to explain anything you'd like to know. It's roughly 19 kilometres to Chemnitz, where the Chemnitztalradweg runs through the old railway tunnel.1

What AlpacaCamping writes

„"It was a beautiful weekend at Conrad. He himself is likeable and enjoys explaining everything you'd like to know.
The location by the river is great. We went out on the water with our SUP. You can paddle about 1-2 km in each direction.“

Sights in the area1

Chemnitz Valley Cycle Path

The trail follows the river valley toward Chemnitz and passes through an old railway tunnel — flat and car-free, good for a day in the saddle.

Rabenstein Castle

This small hilltop castle on the edge of Chemnitz counts among Saxony's tiniest; a short stop that pairs well with the neighbouring Zeisigwald forest.

Chemnitz

The nearest larger town, about 19 kilometres away; its Capital-of-Culture buildings and museums fill a rainy day when paddling is off.
