If you want to move on, you have the Hainich right in front of you and Erfurt with its old town a good forty kilometres further on.1

Old beech forest west of Erfurt, part of the Unesco World Heritage. The treetop walkway runs on planks through the canopy, a good plan for a day without a fixed goal.
Erfurt Old Town
About 41 km away, with the Krämerbrücke and the towers of the cathedral and Severi church. The go-to when the weather turns and the camper gets too small.
Drachenschlucht near Eisenach
A narrow rock gorge, at times only shoulder-wide, water running over wooden planks. Worth it in the heat, since it stays cool and damp between the walls.
