Wine Estate Southern Wine Route (Campspace 5136)
A very peaceful camping spot in the countryside along the Südliche Weinstraße, right in the middle of the vineyards. If you fancy it, you can hike or cycle directly from here into the wine region without having to search for a path. During the day, the vineyards buzz with life. In the evening, it becomes quiet. The host doesn't reveal much more than that, so there's not much more to tell here. To the east lies the Rhine plain, behind you the Pfälzerwald; the Rietburg above Edenkoben is worth a day trip.1

Rietburg
Castle ruin high above Edenkoben, reached by the Rietburgbahn chairlift. From the top the view runs across the vine slopes into the Rhine plain — the lookout of the Southern Wine Route.
Pfälzerwald
The large forest starts right behind the vineyards, part of the biosphere reserve. Marked hiking and cycling trails run through beech and sandstone, good for long summer days.
Hambach Castle
On the hill near Neustadt the castle where tens of thousands rallied for freedom and unity in 1832. Today an outing with a wide view over the wine route, the classic afternoon trip.
