Paderborn

Campsite at the Schafswiese with lake view

A small farm near Paderborn, where sheep and goats roam the meadows and let you pet them. The pitch stands on solid ground with a view of the Lippesee, not six hundred meters further. Take your rubbish with you. Electricity only by arrangement. In the morning you hear the animals before the first cyclists set out on the trails that lead in all directions from here. At the lake you can rent a canoe or stand-up paddleboard; next door the water-skiing facility runs its courses. It's about ten kilometers to the center of Paderborn.1

Sights in the area1

Lippesee

A reservoir close to the pitch, circled by a trail of about six kilometres. The leisure centre rents out canoes and stand-up paddleboards; on sunny days the water-ski cableway draws most of the attention.

The Pader and its springs

Right in Paderborn more than two hundred springs surface and form the Pader, one of Germany's shortest rivers. A town stroll that pays off even in the rain.

Boker-Heide-Kanal cycle path

A flat route along the old irrigation canal, mostly away from traffic, good for an easy afternoon in the saddle.
