Römerstein

Campsite at the Chicken Mobile

A meadow in Römerstein, right in the middle of the Biosphärengebiet Schwäbische Alb. You choose your own pitch; the ground slopes gently, and without levelling blocks your van will sit at an angle. It's quiet all around, and in the evening especially the wind sweeps across the high plateau. Hiking trails lead to the Ruine Sperberseck and the old Burgbrunnen, and the former military training ground is less than three kilometres further on. Dew on the grass in the morning. Otherwise, not much going on.1

What VanSite writes

„Idyllic meadow where the fox and hare say goodnight to each other.
You can choose your spot on the meadow freely. Depending on the location, pegs are advantageous as the meadow is slightly sloped.“

Sights in the area1

Lichtenstein Castle

The small castle perched on a rocky spur above the Echaz valley, a landmark of the Swabian Alb; the classic outing for an afternoon.

Hohenzollern Castle

The ancestral seat of the Prussian royal house sits visible from afar on its conical hill; on a clear day the view reaches far across the Alb.

Urach Waterfalls

The Unterer Wasserfallweg leads through damp beech forest to the drop over the tufa edge near Bad Urach; a good walk even in dull weather.

Reutlingen

The nearest larger town, about 26 kilometres away; for shopping and the train station, and home to the Spreuerhofstraße, the narrowest street in the world.
