Pitch on the horse meadow with dream view

A pitch on the Pferdewiese above Hattingen, up on the hilltop with a view far and wide. In the mornings horses and sheep graze, in summer cattle stand nearby; in the evenings deer come onto the pastures. Three hiking trails lead directly past the farm. Electricity and fresh water are available, but there is no toilet. Fresh eggs are available at the farm, plus wine from the farm's own shop. Down below lie the Ruhr and the Kemnader See, perfect for canoeing or a walk along the shore. Dogs are welcome.1

What VanSite writes

„We offer a wonderful pitch on our horse meadow. The view into the distance is breathtaking and the sunrises are magical. Our animal neighbours, such as cows (in summer), chickens, horses and sheep, create a pleasant atmosphere.“

Sights in the area1

Kemnader See

A dammed stretch of the Ruhr south of Bochum, with a loop path for cycling and skating along the shore. Reachable on foot from the farm — the go-to for a long summer day.

Elfringhauser Schweiz

A hilly walking area east of Hattingen, farms and half-timbered houses between the ridges. The trails run on into the Neandertal and barely end — good for a full day out.

Hattingen Old Town

The old town centre with narrow lanes and half-timbered houses, plus cafés and restaurants. An afternoon is enough to stroll it — the plan for when the hill turns wet.

Neandertal

The valley of the Düssel near Mettmann, where the Neanderthal was found, now with a museum and a wildlife enclosure. The trails from the Elfringhauser Schweiz lead straight over.
