Cute campsite on small fruit meadow

A small residual farm in the Nienburger Land, where moorland transitions into heathland, just over four kilometers from Uchte. The campsite shares the grounds with horses, a donkey and free-roaming ducks that are out and about everywhere during the day. Camping takes place under the old trees of the orchard meadow or with a view of the horse pasture. In the evening, the red kite circles over the meadow, then the bats arrive. Eggs are available from the farm. The Steinhuder Meer is around thirty kilometers away.1

What Hinterland writes

„Between moor and heath in the Nienburg region lies our Heidhorst, a small residual farmstead of 2.4 hectares in an isolated setting with horses, a donkey, dogs, sheep, goats, happy pigs and chickens, geese, ducks and cats.“

Sights in the area1

Steinhuder Meer

Lower Saxony's largest lake, shallow and breezy, with swimming spots, pedal boats and the little island fortress of Wilhelmstein. The day trip for hot weather.

Uchter Moor bog railway

A narrow peat railway runs through the nearby moor, and an exhibition tells of the bog body found here. The dry option when it rains.

Münchehagen Dinosaur Park

Open-air museum with life-sized dinosaurs and real footprints preserved in stone. The safe bet for families when the farm gets too quiet for the kids.

Weser cycle path

The long-distance route follows the Weser through the Mittelweser country, flat and well signposted; Nienburg and its old town make an easy day's stage.
