A parking spot at the Kuhweide near Herscheid, in the hamlet of Sirrin: seven residential houses, surrounded by forest and pasture, with a wide view across the hills. The nearest larger town, roughly 23 kilometres away. Its open-air museum keeps old workshops running down in the valley, the rainy-day standby of the area.
Kahler Asten
One of the highest peaks in North Rhine-Westphalia, further east in the Hochsauerland. Snow lingers longer up there, and the river Lenne rises below.
