In the middle of the Leipzig Neuseenland

An enclosed property with meadow, trees and shrubs, seven kilometers from Leipzig. A small river flows along the edge; from there you can paddle by canoe into the city center. The Cospudener See is a five-minute walk away. Surrounded by floodplain forest. On the meadow stands a half-timbered cottage available for shared use, with a wood-burning stove and a built-in bench. Two hundred meters further on is a restaurant with outdoor seating. From April to October, a barrier blocks access; the remote control is provided by the host beforehand.1

Sights in the area1

Cospudener See

A flooded open-cast mine in the Leipzig Lake District, with a sandy beach on the north shore and a cycling loop. Five minutes on foot from the plot, the afternoon plan for hot days.

Leipzig Riparian Forest

One of the largest floodplain forests in Central Europe, reaching right into the city. The paths combine well on foot and by bike; in spring wild garlic covers the ground.

Markkleeberger and Störmthaler See

Two more mining lakes of the Neuseenland, linked by a canal with a lock. Anyone wanting more water than the Cospudener simply rides on southwards.

Belantis

Amusement park south of Leipzig with roller coasters and a water ride, described by the host as nearby. The one day when the children set the programme.
