For nature lovers
A farm in Klaffer am Hochficht, in the tri-border region of Germany, Austria and Czechia. From the grounds, views extend to Dreisessel in the Bavarian Forest and across to Hochficht in the Bohemian Forest. Four horses and two cats are part of the place. Hochficht
The local peak above Klaffer, a ski area in winter and a starting point for hikes through the Bohemian Forest in summer. The chairlift saves the climb.
Krumau
The Czech old town in a bend of the Vltava, packed tight beneath a medieval castle. The obvious day trip across the border.
Moldaustausee
The dammed upper Vltava on the Czech side, good for swimming and a rafting trip. The water option when the local pond feels too small.
