Wetterzeube OT Trebnitz

The Elm - pitch on a natural meadow

A meadow near Wetterzeube OT Trebnitz, by a small stream, surrounded by fields and forest. The last two hundred meters lead along a farm track, leaving the residential houses behind. In the morning the stream babbles, otherwise things are quiet. The ground is meadow, not paved: in rain you get stuck, as the host himself says. The farm is three hundred meters further on, someone is there if you have questions. Intended for one or two nights. On Saturday morning the baker's van stops in the village. Jena is about twenty-nine kilometers away.1

Sights in the area1

Jenzig

The local hill above Jena, a good 29 km away; from the top you look out over the Saale valley, a worthwhile stop for a clear afternoon.

Lobdeburg ruins

Remains of a medieval castle above Jena, a short climb and a wide view into the valley. The outing for grey hours without much of a programme.

Leipzig Lake District

Flooded former mines with sandy beaches at Lake Cospuden, further north towards Leipzig. The place for hot days, when the meadow bakes in the sun.
