Camping Schmalzhaf's Römerhof
A farmstead near Schwaigern, close to the forest and right on the Kraichgau Cycle Route. The site is an unpaved meadow. No hard surface, just grass. A Saint Bernard named Berna roams the farm, playful and patient, and there are other animals here you can visit. If you're an early riser, you'll mainly hear the birds from the adjacent forest. It's about ten kilometers to Heilbronn; the Heuchelberger Warte is worth a detour by bike.1

Lauffen am Neckar
A small wine town on the Neckar with an old island castle and a tight bend in the river, birthplace of the poet Hölderlin. A quiet stop by the water for half a day.
Heilbronn
The nearest larger town, about ten kilometres away, with the vineyards on the Wartberg above its roofs. The place to head for shopping and rainy days.
