Kevelaer

Time out at the Bringelberg

A plot of land at the forest edge near Kevelaer, right next to horse and pony pastures. In the morning you can hear the animals behind the fence. Otherwise it stays quiet. The site is simple: fire pit and grill, fresh water and electricity on request. Nothing is fenced in, in summer there's an inflatable pool in the garden. You can reach the Irrland leisure park on foot, and it's about 2 km by bike to the Maasduinen across the border. The pilgrimage town of Kevelaer is five kilometers further away. At Werner and Christine's you'll also find a lending library telephone booth and a boules court.1

Sights in the area1

Irrland Adventure Park

The children's park sits within walking distance behind the pitch. A maize maze and play barns fill a whole afternoon for families, no car needed.

Maasduinen

The Dutch national park starts about 2 km across the border. Dunes and pine woods laced with cycle paths — flat enough for long rides in one go.

Pilgrimage town of Kevelaer

Five kilometres away, pilgrims and devotional shops crowd around the Candle Chapel. The rainy-day standby for a stroll under the arcades.

Historic swing bridge in Linn

A piece of old harbour engineering in southern Krefeld, about 36 km off. Worth a day trip together with the old castle quarter nearby.
