Alpaca time out - surrounded by meadows and trees
A parking space for motorhomes and tents at the Waldgarten, surrounded by meadows, on the edge of Vilshofen an der Donau. Between the trees stand the alpacas, plus chickens and ducks. In the mornings you hear them rather than the road. Electricity, water and a toilet are available at the supply hut, along with a large refrigerator and a small kitchen. If you like, you can try your hand at pottery or the spinning wheel. In the evenings, the fire pit burns. It's around three kilometers to the Vils, and half an hour's drive to Passau.1

Sights in the area1
Passau
The city of three rivers, where the Danube, Inn and Ilz meet. The old town with St. Stephen's Cathedral is a walkable afternoon, a good half hour by car.
Vils valley
Well-built cycling and walking paths follow the river, about three kilometres from the site. The flat classic for a day without any climb.
Danube cycle path
Roughly four kilometres north the path runs along the Danube. From here you reach Passau without any climbing and continue further east.
Bavarian Forest
Further east the low mountains begin. At the Geißkopf mountain bikers ride the trails in summer, in winter it turns to skiing and tobogganing.
