The Swabian Alb - Highlights
The Swabian Alps is a medium-altitude mountain range in Baden-Württemberg and the northwestern part of the Jura. Its limestone plateaus drop steeply on the north side along the distinctive Albkante escarpment, while they slope gently southward toward the Danube. The karst bedrock has shaped numerous caves, spring ponds and dry valleys. Juniper heathlands, beech forests and scenic cliffs make the Alps a vast hiking destination.
