The Hunsrück - Highlights
The Hunsrück is a mid-range mountain area in Rhineland-Palatinate and part of the Rhenish Slate Mountains, bordered by the Moselle, Nahe, Rhine, and Saar rivers. Long, forested quartzite ridges such as Idarwald and Soonwald characterize the landscape, with the Erbeskopf at just over 800 meters being the highest elevation. In the southwest, the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park protects extensive forests and moorlands.
