This overnight campsite is provided by the Foundation for Nature Conservation in Hessenstein, a small town within the borders of the district of Plön. It is an open site near an alder quarry, directly on the hiking trail and close to sights such as the Tower Hill Castle or the Ice Age Museum, which among other things displays dinosaur fossils. Campers are only allowed to pitch two tents at this site, and no fires should be lit. The campground caters to nature lovers who enjoy being outside with their feet or bicycles - no registration is required! However, if you need access to toilets, please keep your excrement buried as there are no public toilets here!¹
