Pleasure garden

When the first settlers arrived in what is now the Rhine-Main region, they were greeted by a lush forest. The area was covered by dense forest and vegetation that left little room for settlement - it took hundreds of years before people began to use this space. Today's Odenwald farms are a reminder of how our ancestors lived with nature: Just as trees provide habitats for animals, we humans also need places where we feel at home!¹
