Place between dike and marsh with a far view

Secluded location north of town, right next to the old school building Old School. On one side the North Sea dike rises up, on the other the marshland stretches to the horizon. At the end of the property there are one or two pitches on grass grid pavers with electric hook-ups. Vehicles up to 6.50 meters in length can fit. Toilets and showers are at the outdoor shower facility, where you can also top up your fresh water. It's about four kilometers to Norddeich and eight to Greetsiel. In the morning, the wind blows across the dike.1

What Hinterland writes

„In absolute seclusion attached to the old country school "Old School" is a unique parking spot. On one side the North Sea dike rises up, and on the other you look out onto the vastness of the East Frisian landscape.“

Sights in the area1

Pilsum Lighthouse

The yellow-and-red tower behind the dike, famous from the Otto film. The short walk out is worth it in any weather, even when only the wind whistles.

Greetsiel

Old fishing village with twin windmills and a cutter harbour. The cycle path from Greetsiel to Pilsum Lighthouse runs flat through the marsh, good for an afternoon.

Lütetsburg Castle

Moated castle with a sprawling landscape garden near Norden. The rainy-day standby when the coastal wind blows too sharp.
