Place between dike and marsh with a far view

A single pitch near Norden, at the old schoolhouse in an isolated location. On one side the North Sea dike rises up, on the other the East Frisian marshland stretches open to the horizon. The ground is reinforced with grass pavers, electricity is available, and washing and showering take place at the outdoor shower. Space for one or two campers up to 6.50 metres, no more than that. Norddeich with all essentials is four kilometres away, the fishing village of Greetsiel eight. In the evening, wind over the dike. Otherwise just vastness.1

What Hinterland writes

„In absolute seclusion attached to the old country school "Old School" is a unique parking spot. On one side the North Sea dike rises up, and on the other you look out onto the vastness of the East Frisian landscape.“

Sights in the area1

Pilsum Lighthouse

The yellow-and-red lighthouse behind the dike, famous from the Otto film. The ride there along the cycle path from Greetsiel is worth it in any weather.

Greetsiel

Old fishing village with twin windmills and shrimp cutters in the tidal harbour; wandering its lanes is the coast's classic bad-weather afternoon.

Lütetsburg Castle

Sprawling castle grounds with one of northern Germany's largest landscape gardens; a walk through the park fills half a day.
