The Altdöberner See is located in the Lusatian region of Brandenburg near the municipality of Altdöbern and is part of Lausitzer Seenland, a chain of flooded lignite mines. The shores are still young and are gradually being revegetated; pine forests surround the area along with the wide, flat post-mining landscape. Paths along the water and through the surrounding area invite cycling and walking. Like many lakes in the region, the area is gradually transforming from a mining district into a recreational destination.
