A site in Wanzleben-Börde, less than ten kilometres from Magdeburg. All around, the Magdeburger Börde, flat farmland stretching to the horizon, in summer it smells of ripe wheat. Those who move on quickly reach the Elbe at Magdeburg, where the old bascule bridge hangs over the water. Otherwise: little activity, plenty of peace and quiet.¹
