The Edersee
A long, narrow reservoir nestled beneath forested heights in North Hesse — on the edge of the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park.
Lake Edersee is one of Germany's larger reservoirs, formed from the Eder River in the northern Hesse district of Waldeck-Frankenberg. Perched above the northern shore stands Waldeck Castle, while the southern shore borders the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park with its ancient beech forests. The shores are wooded and deeply indented, and when water levels are low, old paths and remnants of walls emerge from the lake bed. Outdoor activities abound here, with sailing, swimming, hiking and cycling around the lake.
